We absolutely love the Disney parks in Anaheim! Most of our friends and family are VERY aware of this love, and thus, many of them reach out to us when they are planning their own Disney vacations. One of the questions we get a lot is about the size and layout of the parks. In fact, many first time visitors are not aware that there are actually TWO parks in Anaheim. Disneyland, Walt Disney's original park opened in 1955, with many of its original attractions still in operation, AND California Adventure, which was added in 2001.

Disneyland is probably the more popular of the two parks, as it holds A LOT of nostalgia for A LOT of people. This park is comprised of 8 distinct areas, each with their own unique theming (and attractions and food largely consistent with this theming). There is Main Street, USA, which includes attractions like the ever popular Disneyland Railroad depot. Adventureland, which includes attractions like Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones Adventure. New Orleans Square, which includes attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. Critter Country, which includes the famous Splash Mountain. Frontierland, which includes attractions like Mark Twain Riverboat and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (definitely one of our personal favorites). Fantasyland, which includes attractions like The Sleeping Beauty Castle, Peter Pan's Flight, It's a Small World, and Matterhorn Bobsleds. Mickey's Toontown, which includes attractions like Gadget's Go Coaster and Mickey and Minnie's houses. And, finally, there is Tomorrowland, which includes attractions like Space Mountain and Star Tours.

California Adventure is the newer and easier to navigate of the two parks. This park is comprised of 7 distinct areas. There is Buena Vista Street, which includes the Red Car Trolley. Hollywood Land, which includes attractions like Monster's Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout. Cars Land, which includes attractions like Radiator Springs Racers. Grizzly Peak, which includes attractions like Grizzly River Run and Soarin Around the World. Pacific Wharf, which includes attractions like The Bakery Tour (and LOTS of delicious eating options). Pixar Pier, which includes attractions like Incredicoaster and Toy Story Midway Mania (another of our personal favorites). And, finally, there is Paradise Gardens Park, which includes attractions like Goofy's Sky School and The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure.

We will definitely share more about our favorite attractions in future posts, but we thought this would be a good way to start our adventuring together. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions along the way!
